Real human trial data supports this too. In a landmark study, healthy adults given MCP showed significantly increased urinary excretion of arsenic, cadmium and lead within days [71][77][78]. This has since been backed up by further human case work showing benefit in lead-burdened children and adults with heavy metal exposure [74][75][76], and even a documented case of increased uranium excretion within a family [75]. Notably, unlike some other chelating approaches, MCP has not been shown to strip the body of essential minerals like calcium, zinc or copper in the process [73][74] — it appears to be selective in what it removes.
Cardiovascular & Kidney Support — Exciting Emerging Territory
Galectin-3 is heavily implicated in heart and kidney scarring (fibrosis), and MCP's ability to block it has real translational promise. A registered clinical trial at Massachusetts General Hospital investigated MCP specifically for blood pressure support in people with hypertension [69]. Preclinical models show MCP meaningfully reduces galectin-3 expression and disease severity in acute kidney injury [70], and similarly reduces fibrosis in models of heart remodelling and drug-induced organ injury [66][67]. This is a fast-growing research area — cardiology and nephrology researchers are increasingly interested in galectin-3 as a target, and MCP is the most accessible natural compound working on it.
Immune & Inflammatory Support
Preclinical research shows MCP meaningfully reduces key inflammatory signals (TNF-alpha, IL-6) by 30–60% in animal models via its galectin-3 blocking action, with even stronger effects when paired with other anti-inflammatories like quercetin [68]. Human ex-vivo research has also shown MCP can activate immune cells including T-cells and natural killer cells [66] — a promising signal for general immune support that's actively being explored further.
